Doing up the house, me and my mate ripped up two old pieces of Threshold Strip. It's definitely a Hard Wood, my mate will vouch for as he was cutting it with the Multi-Tool. The wood is 53 years old as it's certainly the original fitting, I know when the houses were built (1964).
We reckon it's Mahogany??? Pics below, any wood species experts here???
Thing is, I have a piece that's 79 x 9.5 x 1.3cm (and some smaller bits) and I wondered if any of you budding Guitar Builders had use for it for making a Fretboard or whether the wood is good enough to even make a Fretboard???

Thanks.

Probably a bit soft for a fretboard, though
