Die Hard - best Xmas film ever.

    Avoid - Anything else.
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

Like @PC_Dave I'm definitely looking forward to catching Die Hard 1 and 2.  Avoid like the plague: Any kiddie Christmas films like Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone being the only exception.

The girls have already watched "The Holiday" although thankfully I managed to avoid most of it.

I've still got that one with Bill Nighy as aging rock star to dodge yet though.

Shame, one of my (non-guitar-playing) neighbours has just purchased this on DVD.

On a positive note, it's the ideal antidote to Die Hard. In fact it's the perfect antidote to any Bruce Willis film.

Yet give me a good Bruce Willis film over the von Trapps anyday.

But setting aside Bruce and his one man police force, there's surely a place for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Minority Report? Back to the Future? Serenity? Four Weddings and a Funeral? Surely?

  • Obviously The Great Escape is still fine for any bank holiday.
The only Xmas film I’ve ever found bearable is Its a Wonderful Life ( although it is brilliant).
I have watched the Mark Kermode tv film recommendations for the festive period but nothing really tickling my fancy.

If I have an argument with MrsTheWeary I’ll rewatch Frank as it will drive her out the room.

    To see:
    Muppets Christmas carol.
    To avoid:
Home alone, National lampoons Christmas turd.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I don't know why but I always associate James Bond films with Christmas.

    Dr Zhivago.

It's usually on over Christmas. First saw it when I was about 10 and fell hopelessly in love with Julie Christie.

Because Great Escape was on every Xmas and everyone moaned “oh no, not AGAIN!” I didn’t actually see it when I was younger. Finally watched it a couple of years ago. 3

My all time favourite is Muppet Christmas Carol. I try to avoid all the chick flick Xmas schmaltz that my missus seems to love.
