eBay monstrosities.... Again.

What's Hot
I'm on the hunt for a HH tele (maybe a Jim Root, Bloacktop, John5, Chris Shiflett or Trohman). So I bravely put the word "Telecaster" into eBay, set the budget to £500 and dived in... There are some WEIRD things out there!

That blue Squier makes regular appearances on this forum.

That vendor in Twickenham sure hates acoustic guitars. Ironically, Leo Fender's earliest developmental experiments towards the solid body electric Spanish guitar amounted to a Martin dreadnought with electronics crudely installed on its soundboard.

  • I'm slightly horrified (but not very surprised) by the sheer volume of "tribute/copy/clone/homage" guitars being sold as the genuine article. It's almost 50:50!

A lot of eBay vendors are not musicians. To them, an old electric guitar is just an item that might sell for a profit. The usual giveaway with such vendors is their liberal use of correct guitar jargon in inappropriate ways or made-up/irregular/false technical terms. e.g. "Arm" where they should have said "neck".

Some of these vendors may be chancing their luck. Others genuinely haven't a clue. If they are lucky, the item is purchased by somebody equally clueless. It is not unknown for the second clueless induhvidual to attempt to immediately resell the old guitar for even more money to an even more clueless customer.

It's funny that the blue Tele guy thought it worth putting the word "Fender" in the title, even though it isn't one, but not mention the monstrosity of a hackjob done to the body til you get in to the details.

Also it looks nothing like a piece of a jigsaw lol
