TC Electronic Analog Pedals - thoughts?

JohnnysevenJohnnyseven Frets: 908
Has anyone tried any of the new (mostly) analog TC Electronic line of pedals and would care to comment? I mostly interested in the Thunderstorm flanger but would be keen to hear of others too.

  • I believe they're the Behringer clones, rebranded and re-housed. I heard build quality is much improved but I've not tried any of them myself. Your mileage may vary!

IIRC some are based on the Behringer pedals ( which were themselves based on Boss) and some were new additions.
Pete Thorn is using the fuzz on his new board although as his stuff is mostly in loops he won't have an issue with any potential footswitch problems ( the issue that follows their pedals around).
Pretty generic series of pedals, I don't think you would go too far wrong for the price.

  • Thanks for the comments. I decided to take a punt on the flanger, it has had some decent reviews and is cheap so figured it was worth a go.

  • What is the Thunderstorm flange based on originally?  Was it a Boss flanger?

  • There are lists of what people think the Behringers were based on. Behringer did two flangers, one apparently based on a Boss BF3 and one on the Boss HF2.

  • From the clips i've seen I reckon the BF2 over the HF2, the HF2 is more subtle.

It’s quite amazing what a big range of pedals Behringer made, not all Boss based . Including the bigger box ones they did about 70.
