In older Fendery style amps which way did it go circuit wise? Reverb into trem or trem into reverb?

Yes, both on bias trem and opto trem amps the reverb comes first.

Certain dual pedals like the Strymon Flint and the amazing Benado unit give you the option of swapping the order around. I couldn't hear much difference though..

Oh, I run my tremolo after my drive pedal and before delay / reverb.

Can't remember now why I chose that slot but will try the old switcharoo and see what happens.

  • I have a Catalinbread Valcoder and Boss FRV-1 so thought it would be worth getting it as authentic as possible. My pedal geek brain would of thought tremolo first so I’m glad I asked.

    Interesting, I didn't know that.
I'd always assumed it was the other way around.
To me, logic - and experimentation with pedals - suggests that trem into reverb would be the way . I certainly prefer that , although i dont use reverb per se but a DM2 set for a short "room type" slapback mostly.
I have tried it with the tremolo last but didnt like the way it modulates the delay , it sounds unnatural to me.

  • Trem -> Reverb for me too. It just sounds better that way round to me (YMMV).

Tremolo into drive sounds interesting as the volume increase dips into a growling drive.
