At least it won't be just another overpriced copy of the same old TS circuit. It will be interesting to know how the NuTube is used - as a gain stage, or as a clipping device?

I see it also has a mix control... so it can presumably sound as awful as a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive .

I've still got a Casio FX-39 calculator which uses the technology too. The display still works fine after what must be almost 40 years, although some of the buttons are getting a bit dodgy.

The actual Nutube module is quite a pricy part at around £39 in single units .... which is a lot compared to the 39 pence opamp and 2p clipping diodes in the original tubescreamer

It would make far more sense to have the valve at the *end* of the circuit, not the start. Why use a valve as a boost where it produces no distortion, and then stuff it through the clipping diode circuit where any added harmonics will be masked?

Other valve-based hybrid pedals like the Mesa V-Twin and Blackstar HT have it the other way round, for a good reason.

Yeah, how often do you push a tubescreamer versus using a tubescreamer to boost a wider frequency range gain stage? 

Odd choice.

They should have used a better switch too; those switches are poor and either expensive to replace as a whole unit or fiddly to replace just the switch.

Based on that video, it sounds like it may be different than the Maxon tod series pedals. I preferred the sound of the NUTube screamer
