Compact Digital Camera recommendations

I urgently need to get a compact digital camera - what do you guys in the know recommend?

I've been looking at a Sony DSCHX50 or a Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 - are these worth considering? What else is on the market.

Couple of things to help you:

1. Snapsort.com to compare cameras
2. I have been buying Fuji refurb cameras from their website for some time, they're always in immaculate condition and come with a full warranty.

or you can get them as a single lens option (either of the lenses) for £169

IQ is outstanding, quick to use and nice and compact..

if you want an optical viewfinder and don't mind something a little larger look at the Canon G15 (or snag an earlier model G12-G14 for cheaper)

I have the Sony HX20V and it's amazing. 

The HX50V you are looking at is the new replacement, though I've read that the image quality isn't quite as good as the previous model. 

I say pick up the HX20V now that it's discounted.

The Canon SX240 is an absolute bargain, you can snag one for £140ish. Superb image quality and a humungous 20 x zoom = loads of win.
