From my Dad...

 Listens more than he talks
 Genuinely interested in what others have to say
 Calm measured approach to everything
 Love of music
 Learning for its own sake
 Interest in lots of different subjects
 Being fair and reasonable
 Work ethic
 Learning ethic

From my Mum...

 Unfortunately, the less the better. Mum is one of those people who is always right (whether she is or not), starts shouting at everybody else when things aren't going her way, and criticises everybody and everything as a matter of course. Plus she has a nasty vindictive streak. Sadly, her sister is much the same.

I can actually remember at an early age making a conscious decision to be like my Dad, and not like my Mum.
