Hello all, I was wondering if you guys have some pearls of wisdom to share when it comes to mastering your own tracks?
I've made a lot of tracks lately, I get good separation and clarity when rendering to mp3 but I was wondering what the dos and donts are before I go all rogue with the compression.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a
whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct
term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a
rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a
fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term
by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the
term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I've tried a few, they all make an amazing difference
Probably use a separate instance in advance on the drum mix
IMO if you're just putting up a collection of individual tracks they shouldn't really need 'mastering' beyond making sure they are in the right ball-park loudness-wise. The real skill of mastering lies in making a collection of tracks work together as an album.
