My fender twin has lost its twang so to speak...it sounds like the middle is on full even when its off and if i turn the treble up it still sounds strange like there's middle ... anyone had any experience with this type of thing before?

Probably the ground connection to the tone stack has broken. That will give all mid, the mid and bass knobs won't do anything and the treble will do very little.

It could be the wire that goes to the grounding plate - especially if the mid pot is loose - or the pot itself. The pot can usually be fixed by re-crimping the ground terminal onto the trackboard with a pair of pliers, but you'll need to take it out to get at it.
