Since the instruction "ignore this" didn't specify that the ignoring be done pre- or post-reading I naturally read the post to see if there were any instructions before commencing the ignoring.

Neither did it specify how long one should ignore it. For all you know I may have ignored it and then finished ignoring it and am now in the "take notice of this" phase, but it looks like I've just blithely ignored the instruction to ignore.
