Man the marketing blurb never ceases to amaze me..  [rolleyes]  (they don't look particularly sparkly either).

$4,999
Gibson Custom Shop has created small batches of sparkle-finish guitars in the past, but never before have the finishes so perfectly matched the inlay colors like in this limited-edition Les Paul Custom Abalone Sparkle series. All the gleaming, vibrant colors of Abalone come alive through these five coordinated metal flake finishes. Under the hood, all the classic Les Paul tone and Custom Shop construction you expect is present, making it every bit the pro-level instrument as it is a museum-caliber statement piece.

Yeah I would have one as an addition to my Toy Story Museum. Lol

Dont really like them as they stand is it one of those things that 10 years of age and gigging the colour fades a bit the lacquer starts to yellow the gold gets nicely worn and all of a sudden you see a picture and go wow that’s so cool.

    nah perhaps not

still think Gibson at the moment could not find their collective arse even with a diagram.

    YMMV

I don’t know; I reckon most of the staff are well aware the arse is the bloke running the company..!

I think Gibson must be on some kind of marathon assault course through SeaWorld, given how many times they've jumped the shark in quick succession recently.

    I like 'em.

    Abalone Customs - nice.

Better than bits of old plastic.

I don’t mind the looks, but they’re way above my maximum spend for a single guitar.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Presumably the museum in question is Potter's Museum Of Curiosities?

    I like the turquoise one

I actually nearly like the blue, green and grey, but not with all that manky gold hardware. Chrome or black or gunmetal.

  • Are the work areas the designers work in near the finishing area?  Those caustic chemicals have been known to alter behavior.

They're probably just on whatever the owner's having.  That would be enough.

(Though I kinda like the blue one.)

They should widen the colour options, do something like B&Q and their paint-matching.

A museum calibre piece is the Strat Jimi set fire to at Woodstock not overpriced rubbish with sparkly bits to appeal to wealthy middle-aged blues playing magpies

A bit glam rock, but I've seen worse.

That price tag though. Not sensible is it?

That's not faraway from the Sparkle Series that Epiphone did in the 90s.
