Noisy Vox V847 wah

My Vox wah has developed some noise in the heel down position. It only runs off battery as there's no 9v input. Assuming its either a dirty pot or the battery getting old.

Any thoughts?

If the pot was worn out it'd be scratchy through the sweep. Battery is easy to test, chuck a new one in there and/or check the output of the old one with a meter. 

i know wahs are susceptible to picking up radio signals but I don't know if one could suddenly start doing it, someone cleverer than me might.

Cheers bud, it's no time scratchy, it just gets a lot of louder than normal hiss in the heel down position.

i do occasionally pickup some awesome radio stations as well!

ill chuck a new battery in when I get chance.

Is it located anywhere near a transformer/psu?

I have a voodoo lab iso 5 mounted underneath my pedaltrain junior in the centre, with the wah to the right.

ill try taking it off the board and see I found that makes any difference....

@thermionic moved the wah off the board, problem solved....in terms of noise. Now means there's a great big gap on the board!

do you know I feel all wahs do this, I've never experienced it before?

My Vox wah was very noisy when it was adjacent to a transformer (either my main one or a Line6 one). It was fine once I moved the wah to one end and both PSUs to the middle. As you know, it can act as a radio receiver and pick up all sorts of electromagnetic noise! The heel down position probably shifted the resonant peak close to 50Hz.

Rather annoying but at least its not faulty!
