Daft question, but can someone tell me what the black band on the second fret of this young prodigy's guitar is. I've seen Guthrie using one and assumed it was for tying his hair back. ; > (string damper maybe?)

Why is his bridge pickup practically falling out of the guitar?

If that SG has 490R/490T humbuckers, there will be a tendency for the neck position pickup to overpower the bridge position pickup. The "one way up, one way down" adjustment is the only cure short of buying replacement pickups.
