This is difficult to answer cos is a blurring to what I remember ACTUALLY seeing on the original night of broadcast and what I may have seen on later docu/repeats/online.

I never saw Bowie or Roxy first time and they would be it, but at the time I was avid mad for any episode where I would be able to see someone I liked and how they played the songs/gear etc as TOTP was never a guide here.

So - would be all of early BeBop Deluxe and most deffo The Stranglers although there seems to be no online footage I can find.

Nils Lofgren too firm;y springs to mind cos I wanted to see how he played solos in Kieth Don't Go and Back It tUp as I had just got my Strat then and loved his tone and these great songs.

I used OGWT pretty much as I use YT now - that and live gigs and NME/MM were the order of the day for us then!

The new Strat would have been on my lap to watch this!

Bob was on breakfast telly this morning and there were a few seconds of him interviewing an extremely rough looking Keith Richards, so maybe that.

Couldn't have been as disasterous as the Kossof interview with a Road Manager helpfully on hand to decipher Paul's mumblings. (iirc)

When I think of this song, I immediately think of this performance of it...

    "That'll do"

Really really love the Feelgood's "Roxette", and Talking Heads doing "Psycho Killer" too.
I love that PiL performance .. I saw it broadcast.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

So much greatness in this thread! Can we send a link to Jools Holland? It might help to spruce up his shiny yet facile show.

Plus lots of good stuff already mentioned. Little Feat and Focus have to be up there, Edgar Winter doing Frankenstein too.

Some great shouts on here. I particularly love the Roxy Music and Robert Wyatt suggestions. Can't find Tubeway Army's Are friends electric vid out there but I love that too. Apologies for putting Bono on here but this left a lasting impression on me when I watched it (on its first airing). I was 10 and thought it was amazing music:
