That was really interesting. A controlling person is capable of things that most people wouldn't even consider.

It relies upon a gullibility and belief in the powers of the 'mafia' and the 'security services' that I can't imagine succeeding in any place other than America where they're practically force fed a diet of movies that make this kind of thing believable. The sheer size of the place helps, allowing for a separation from neighbours and other citizens that might allow for some hint of reality or common sense to kick in.
