Some of you might be aware that I've been on the lookout for a compact / highly portable PA system for my kids classes and just for fun / practice use. 

I finally settled on the Yamaha Stagepas 400i but added an extra floor speaker, an Alto TX8, to use as a monitor. The whole thing packs up dead small, and even with poles fits quite happily in my boot with plenty of room for other kit. 

Gave it a nearly full volume test today, and was pleasantly surprised that there's a lot more bottom end than I expected, despite me opting to not get a sub. The monitor works brilliantly, with independent control and a lovely clear sound. 

Think this will serve me well, and a great price fur what you get. Being able to clip the mixer into one speaker and all the cables into the other makes it even more portable.
