I love this amp but it deserves to be turned up and played more than I can as a home hobbyist/collector.

It took me a long time to find one especially with the correct voltage. Amazing attention to detail and what a sound!

Would a Fryette Power Station 2 not be cheaper and allow you to keep the beast?
I use one on my Constellation.

@donner That's a thought. I can't turn it past 2 or so and assumed that meant non-master volume amps were not for me. Does the Fryette make the Constellation more manageable?

It does. I can use both combined between 9 to 11o'clock in my flat.
Wooden floorboards and tin plate gas oven ringing and vibrating, too ;-)
If the Connie is on 12:00, PS is down on 8:00.
Bright switch at the PS keeps highs high.
What remains: Speakers not moving that much air. PS can't compensate that.

Hmmm. Food for thought, thanks. I'll price the Fryette!

I'd say: Try a PS2, first. It's a matter of taste, if it will please you.
In case you don't like it, you won't lose any money on it. It's sold out, used ones go around 550/600 GBP.
You will be able to sell it again very quickly.

  • Hey Ross,
live a power station you’re welcome to borrow if ya wanna try it out. Will be heading down the kingdom shortly so could hook up (or if you’re near Dublin we could meet there).
Theyre great, really make those big amps useable ( using it in a Friedman atm and it’s magic)...

Power Station works great with a K60 running EL34s - you have so many tone shaping options on the amp that you can rebalance back to you’re perfect tone
    The answer was never 42 - it's 1/137 (..ish)
