CITES and the EEA

What's Hot
So I'm interested in potentially purchasing a guitar from a company based in one of the European Economic Area (EEA) countries. I wondered what the CITES rules are regarding this. Is it like the rest of Europe where Rosewood can travel freely (I think) or like outside of the EU (the US etc) where it's a massive pain.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If it’s all in the “customs union” then no permits needed for IRW.

Brazilian is still very risky without a CITES passport though. Some countries (looking at you, Germany...) will enforce despite customs union.

  • Thanks for the info, it's a guitar coming from Norway so hoping it won't be too much of a problem?

Uh, yeah, hope that’s tongue firmly in cheek. A “hard” Brexit makes it harder, not easier, to move stuff like this.
