Just visited his new website. Man he's got some lovely guitar builds. Definitely taken with his venetian with the tremolo added. Starts at £4500 though More saving needed

Lovely:-

A friend of mine has a Martyn Booth Signature. I don't think I've ever held a finer instrument.

    They're definitely worth the wait!
Not much of the gear, even less idea.

I'm sure too. Just can't bring myself to spend that much in a guitar. Even though it's a work of art. Maybe a second hand one one day :)

Talk to Martyn, he sometimes has other items (like custom made orders not taken up or Ex show/demo guitars and even trade ins) not always, but if you register an interest he will keep an eye out.
It's been said before that he is a thoroughly nice guy and very very highly skilled luthier. The guitars he makes are fabulous to play.

Yeah I've met him a few years back when discussing a build but pulled out at the last minute as it was a bit too much then as it is now :( Beautiful instruments and workmanship though.

Im a bit wary to engage him again other than the odd email to perhaps pull it again. Maybe wait for an inheritance from somewhere

I have played two of his guitars.......both were quite superb
They are incredibly expensive tho' and sadly ,like the Hartungs and Hubers ,Ruokangas' that you see in the for sale threads they are not mainstream and suffer terrible depreciation.
You do get what you pay for in these cases as distinct from the latest brand "du jour" which are based on hype and are not IMO of the same quality..........Echopark anybody ?

If you consider the cost of, most high end Gibson guitars, these days, I think Martyn’s Instruments are exceptional value for money.
A bespoke Instrument, made exactly as you request it.
Neck shape, fretwire, body construction, pick up’s. finish, Etc, Etc.
No contest, for me, he wins, hands down.

I agree. I'd never pay that for a Gibson or fender etc. But I would for one of his. However just not enough in the bank at the moment. Give me a year ;) He has said he'll take instalments though. Hmmmmmmm ;)
