What is this Mojo, what is that then?

What amazes me is when single individuals seem to come across product after product that has extra mojo, then mysteriously move said product on within a few months.

there is no doubt that some things, or some combinations of gear just seem to work, feel and inspire more than others, Mojo is a good enough word for that, but too often it's just used an extra thing to list in a classified add.

Mojo is a magazine and is overly focused on bands from the ‘60s.

I think it means your guitar is haunted.

I love a good Mojo, me.

Mrs B gets me some quite often as a treat.

    My underpants are black.

I don't much like Mojo. Orow are great, though. It's strange they've mixed them up like that.

So are we never allowed to use the word?

    Its relatively harmless.

For me it’s a whole state of mind when stuff just works and the creativity juices are flowing.

It’s a personal thing, not a definable attribute of any instrument.  Gear is part of it when the gear is inspirational
    Agreed.

Abstract feelings are always difficult/impossible to put into words so I guess Mojo is as good as any.
    agree and well put

Shelly and Wordsworth would struggle to describe what is going on - but you just somehow like it

Nothing wrong with a bit of mojo.

I've totally had the experience of playing a guitar or through an amp/pedal that immediately made me feel like I was a lot better than I am. Mojo's just a comfortable name for that feeling.
My Trade Feedback Thread is here

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

Eventually, code for some indefinable quality that all the guitars you already own do not have but the one the salesperson is offering, somehow, does.
    Indeed. Spot-on.

However, my least favourite use is by bullshitters to tell you that the attributes below actually add value to the POS they are peddling:

    *Knackered frets
    *Badly-battered finish
    *Non-functional circuitry
    *Warped neck
    *Non-original aspects
    *Hideous amateur relic job
    *Generally butchered

    (combine or delete as applicable)

I thought was your minimum requirements list when buying something?

You can't buy or sell mojo.

But while I was reading through this thread, I did find myself wondering:

If someone beats the original owner in a fair fight, does the guitar shifts its allegiance, thereby transferring the mojo to a new owner?

It's like conkers: if your fiver beats the other fellow's forty-twoer then you are the proud possessor of a forty-sevener.

It is the elusive concept of 'quality' which, when threatened by bad vibes, may only be saved by Tone Hero Boutique Series pickups from Lace.. I am reliably informed that these will, incidentally, also assist one in getting the girl and punching evil tone (whomever he may be) in the dick.

A Pre-Production Charvel Star has 'mojo' (historical significance and a sense of awe)...

Whereas a Fender Production Line Pro-Mod has no 'mojo' (literally fuck all going for it and perfect for suckers that haven't tried a gun oiled neck)...

Apart from the fact that one is a great guitar and the other is a ridiculous shape that most people wouldn't be seen dead with, anyway.
