Seriously check put the Keeley Neutrino. One just got sold on here recently. Love mine to bits and tend to use it quite a bit in the set now :)

I have to say, there's a range of them in the Zoom MS-50G or MS-70 CDR (when you update the free firmware to get a lot of the MS-50G stuff).

Using the M-Filter model, I got very close to a friend's fantastic, 70s vintage MXR Envelope Filter.

Given you can pick up the Zooms used for @£50 and will get a tuner, other decent effects in there plus additional tweakability and the option of adding other effects to the auto-wah/envelope filter, it's as good a pedal to try as any and a bit of a bargain without any compromise on sound.

  • Thanks for the responses guys, I think I like the sound of the Keeley the best @hotpickups , the robotalk is too big and probably out of budget @breezytele , the zoom stuff isnt for me @Kebabkid and @VJIves I've pm'd you about the SD

I used to have a Snow White. It was great but maybe my tastes have changed now but the neutrino is more useful. There was a Snow White going for sale on a Facebook thread a while back. I can check for you if your interested if it's still available?

what was it you prefer about the keeley just out of curiosity?

Im looking for that classic MXR envolope / mu tron sound but also something capable of the subdued john mayer "i dont trust myself" sound.

Do you not fancy the Roger Linn Adrenalinn pedal (as used by Mayer on that song) or is it too much or too big, as that would do it for you?

The MXR EF is a fantastic reference and between Tugwellguitar and myself, we've gone through/purchased 5 of these 70s vintage pedals and only 2 had 'the magic' and sadly, they're not up for sale.

The issue I have with Envelope Filters, and I've had the Carl Martin, both versions of the Guyatone Wah Rocker, one of the EHX ones and the Xotic Robotalk plus some MXRs is that they can sound more phaser-ish rather than wah and quacky. My reference point is Edie Brickell's "What I want" and the Zoom model is doing an ok job.

I hope you find what you're looking for :)

I can't put in words tbh what I like about the neutrino except it just feels right and I connected with it quickly. There is a YouTube video somewhere comparing a Mutron and the neutrino. To be they sound very similar

Awesome. Great pedal. I'd be happy with either a Snow White or neutrino :)
