    A would be ideal if wear/friction was not an issue.  I tend to do the first half like B, then angle it down and flare it out

    B, but with the angle increasing towards the headstock side as Wez said. A will suffer from very fast wear and actually have more friction since the pressure at the contact point will be very high.
