Safe in the knowledge that when you log into certain sites, you know that the same items, for the same prices, will always be there...

You would have thought that, for truly rare or historic instruments, the vendors would choose a more prestigious platform from which to sell. As much of a rip-off as auction houses can be, they are more likely to attract monied buyers than some two-bit Interweb site, frequented by cheapskates.

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

There's one expression that really irritates me and that is "anyone reading this will know...  blah blah". It's such a condescending comment that causes me to struggle on so many levels that I just don't know how and where to start my rant.

First two links not working for me.

    Maybe that's a good thing.  :)

    Two things come to mind:

    1) It only seems to happen to Harry's links, but they never open a new browser tab. Is it me or is it (Memorex) the forum software. NB: This is a comment, not a complaint.
    2) Should we have a H7 sub-forum, which would be a place of pure delight and entertainment?

The other perennial “missing” link (pun intended) is the weirdly-described Les Paul which regularly yo-yo’s in price between £4.5K and £10K...its (unusually) not on eBay at the mo...

What's wrong with that Antoria for £350 ? - might not be a player but would look fantastic in any 50's/early 60's themed bar restaurant.  I've not seen anything quite like it - great prop for movies too.

Talking of odd online sellers...I know we live in an "instant" online culture, but...

I recently requested to go see a guitar (some considerable distance away).

The seller messaged me back to say that was fine. I caught his reply on email (on my phone, rather than on the site the guitar was advertised on) and made a mental note to reply ASAP.

A little while later (I hadn't yet responded to the first email), I received another message querying whether I actually intended to purchase it (This should probably have rang alarm bells...however, I didn't actually read this message until the next day - see below).

So...almost a day elapsed, during which home and frantic work stuff kept me occupied and away from spurious guitar-related things.

When I came to respond and agree a time to visit (bearing in mind this is maybe 30 hours in total since I first made contact), I found that the seller had blocked me and sent a third message, calling me a timewaster. Charming.

On reflection, not striking a deal with someone WHO LIKES TO WRITE IN CAPS A LOT and is obviously impatient was probably a good thing.
