Just spotted this on eBay earlier, The finish looks awful! Looks like a GCSE art project.

That Ebay seller is this guy, who bought Les Paul's white Custom at auction and then promptly tried to sell it for $500K - much to the mirth of the Internet.  He tried his very best to convince the world that the Custom was Les Paul's bestest ever guitar.

The finish on the faded seems original to me.  Not the prettiest, but some standard fadeds do look like that.
