Common pickup problems (EMG / active in particular)

GeeJayGeeJay Frets: 15
Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Yamaha THR10, but when I plugged in my Musicman Luke I get no output. I've had the Luke a while and as crazy as it may sound I've not actually used it with an amp since I bought it.

I can hear feedback through the amp when I plug it in (so presuming that, along with the fact the amp is brand new, means the amp is ok). My Luke has EMG active pickups, and I was wondering if there are any common issues / gotchas that might save me a trip to get it checked out / fixed? I've put in a fresh 9V battery but still no luck.

Thanks,
Greg

Is the wiring in your Luke the old, soldered together type or the more recent Solderless Quck Connect system?

If the latter, it is possible that a connector has worked loose or has been replaced the wrong way around. (Even the +9v power supply runs on push-on connected cables.)

Remote diagnosis would be greatly eased by photographs.
