Happy new guitar day to me !! Tokai gold top content

been after a new guitar for ages . Been on the lookout for a tokai for a while but been unable to get sorted .
a nice looking gold top came up for sale about half an hours drive from me , so I checked it out .
its a 2001, Japan made  , open book headstock and looks like it's barely been used and cones in a very nice fifitted hard case .It's had a new graphtec nut , and the most worn part of the guitar is on the headstock where it'd been hung on a wall.
wasnt sore about the slightly chubbier neck compared to my les Paul custom , but decided to take a chance on it to see how well I get on with it .

I had a BMW 320i that colour in the 80s... Had some great pickups in that too....

I played it last night at a rehearsal, I love this guitar.
I'm going to treat it to a new bridge pickup, and possibly a neck pickup, and a decent setup.
 Nothing wrong with the stock gotohs, I just prefer something a little more aggressive than PAF style pickups.

If they are the MKII Gotohs they are actually pretty hot.  Lovely guitar, my Tokai Goldtop is my go-to Les Paul, love it!

That is lovely. I think I'm going to cave in soon and get a tokai les Paul. My 335 copy is superb.

yeah they are, it's not so much the output, they seem to be voiced quite warm, I like something with a little more bite.
