Charvel So Cal SORTED

thinking about grabbing a super strat and I’m hearing great things about these. Anybody using one?

I had one, foolishly sold it. Mine was all black and one the last of the Jap ones that RichTone got hold off. Great neck profile.

The Mexican ones are excellent, compound radius fretboards, genuine US Seymour Duncan’s and a proper Floyd Rose

It's the MIK FR Special. A sustain block upgrade may redeem it. I prefer the MIM hardtail models, with their redundant locking machineheads.

I have one and it is a very well made guitar, versatile and decent hardware throughout.

I have a So-Cal and I love it! I changed the pickups from Duncan Distortion to JB/59 as per the San Dimas.

The trem is a FRT-o2000, made in Korea OEM version. Has steel baseplate and saddles, no idea about the block. As far as I know they are German-spec but MIK. It works anyway!

The neck is fantastic.

Steel saddles on these. I checked with a magnet!

I have 2 san dimas ones a2016 FR and a 2017 HT. They feel great play great sound great and are well built.   The neck is superb.  Recommended.

I had a Japanese Pro Mod So Cal. I regret selling it.

Also had a Japanese one, the neck was superb. In terms of value for money, maybe one of the best guitars you can by.

I have a Mexican So Cal I acquired recently in a trade.
Great guitar but it turns out it's not really my kind of thing.

I've got a San Dimas rather than the So Cal,mainly because at the time of buying the So Cals had black hardware and I preferred the look of the chrome on mine,but if the So Cals are as good as my San Dimas, which I believe they are,based on other user reviews,I'd definitely go for it.As far as I know they've both got the same neck,and as others have said,they are wonderful to play on.

I've said it before,but if for whatever reason I had to get rid of my guitars,the Charvel would be the one that I'd hang onto for dear life.It's going nowhere.

If you can find one,and they occasionally crop up in the classifieds here,I'd be looking for one of the later Jap  ones (like mine).I paid £600 new for mine,which included a decent hard case,so I'd imagine £400 would snag you one,which at that price equates to of the best value guitars you could pick up IMO.

Still wonderful guitars and although I've not owned one I've played a few and I definitely would.

@Alnico I've got a partscaster based on the So Cal look,with a single bridge pickup.My niece has had it for the last couple of years as she's learning to play.

I'd love the real thing but can't really justify it at the minute.My brother in law is interested in buying my Epiphone Les Paul 1960s tribute,so you never know 

Anyway @sherpa_man I know @mike_l ; has/had a black Jap one but haven't seen him round here much lately.Maybe he'll show up and give you some info. I know he really liked his.
