Ibanez Floyd question

What's Hot
In my quest to hone my guitar wrangling skills I’m attempting to sort an Ibanez bitsa put together by my wife’s Uncle a few years back.
I think, although I’m not sure that it’s a Jem
Jr/555 neck on what looks like an RG type non scratchplate body.
it has manifest issues which I’m sure I’ll be putting before you over the coming weeks but the first question is about the Floyd

What on Earth is going on here ?
i thought the whole point with Floyds was that they clamped the strings at either end to stop them getting all caught up !

That is a third party, licensed version of a Floyd Rose single-locking vibrato. The string end is not clamped at the bridge but you still get the fine tuners.

If you desire double locking, it is simple - if time consuming - to change the saddles.

You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
