In fairness, I've bought a few guitars with similar repairs, it can be solid and still be unsightly. If the price reflects the damage, then they're usually good bargains, but £600 for that is strong money if it was tidy, let alone with a break that hasn't been masked.

I like the the open book headstock Epiphones, something about them.
