to be escorted out of the building. It's my last day, my boss has come from Hatfield to Bristol to collect my laptop, and the fecker is nowhere to be seen. I'm busy doing admin for my new job though. It is a very strange feeling to be leaving a company by choice after 10 years. The last move was by choice I guess, but a result of moving house as well.

Ho hum.

If you have time on your hands you could always behave like a big tit and burn some bridges before you leave...

Good luck in the new post!

All the best with it. If they're arsey enough to escort you out of the building I guess there is little love lost between you ...
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

It’s usually just to get your security card, tools and electronics off you.

My last boss was enough of a tosser to take all my tools off me when I left, right down to a slightly bent screwdriver. Everyone that had gone before, their boss had just said “nah, don’t worry about it, keep the lot”. Hopefully the latest round of BT redundancies will get him... I’m not normally a vindictive person but this guy was seriously the worst manager I’d ever had in 25 years with the company. I presume he got promoted because nobody in their right mind would want him working for them.

I always regret not taking “my” Fluke multimeter with me when I was escorted out of my job several years ago. No use to the company, they’d made all the engineers redundant!

Yeah it was OK. I managed to ignore the "did you have a laptop bag?" question, that'll come in useful for the new job. No bridges burnt, my ex-boss was at pains to stress that the door remains open if things don't work out, which was nice of him I thought.

Annoyingly, deleting my email account from my phone has fubar-ed my contacts somewhat. I just see numbers in WhatsApp now, wtf?

I had a similar experience when I left my last job. My immediate and newly appointed manager was an utter twat and tried to bully me from the day he started. He resented the fact that I'd handed my notice in leaving him the exposed dick that he was.

Upon handing my notice in, ten minutes later I was being escorted from the premises which was stupid as, if was to steal company property or data, I would have done it prior to my announcement.

He wanted to take the company car from me until I reminded him that it was part of my package and he couldn't.

The guy left the company unanounced two months later.
