Those Toronados are nice guitars—I had a couple of the large-pickguard version like yours. I do think the selection of colors Fender offered was a little lackluster, and they’d be well-suited to Surf or Foam Green among others, though I’d be reluctant to refinish one unless the original finish was badly damaged.

I don’t care much for the control knobs, either—I replaced mine with Jazz Bass knobs.

Sadly no, however it had not stopped some people from retrofitting one...
