Went to order some of these today, but have noticed they may have changed the design to a more rounded design rather than the old style rectangle shape. Is this the case?

Yes. Viewed from above, the outline of the string guides is ovoid.

Thank god for that, the old rectangular ones always looked crap. They do work really well, I had a pair on one of my old Strats, but they were damn fugly.

Slightly off topic, but do people prefer this to the roller ones? I thought the rollers would work better..

I’ve had both, on different guitars. Both work well, the roller trees just look neater/better to me.
