NGD DAY!! NGD DAY!!

In a previous thread I talked about whether or not to physcially go and pickup a guitar from the States. In the end that was a problematic idea that was firmly kicked to the long grass. But the guitar got sent, held up in customs for CITIES but eventually arrived safe and sound. So this is the guitar:
It is a custom built, number #3 of 14 2017 PRS Tremonti guitars built for him to record the new album and subseqently flog off. I'm under no illusion this is a money spinner to fund the album but it is authentic. It has a story behind it and proof that Mark played it. It's also signed by Mr Smith himself as well as the band:
The thing that drew me to this guitar over the others that were availble was the unique paint job. I have not seen a white topped PRS before and I wonder whether the body of the guitar has something to do with it. Usually white Tremonti's are all white and that is not something that is It appears to be one slab of wood - I cannot see a join anywhere. There could be seomthing by the lower control route but on cross section that does not appear to be the case:
I dunno but I'm pretty impressed with it. It sounds immense and the quality is astonishing. It's clearly newer than my DGT and there are similarities for sure, but this does seem a notch up again.
And now#3 has settled in with her sisters on the wall...
But finally, no new NGD woiuld be complete without my reaction to picking it up for the first time:

Looks great. I have a late 2014 DGT (the hang tag is dated from the first few days of 2015) and it’s definitely a notch up from a 2011 McCarty I used to own.

There’s no question that PRS set the quality standard among the mass producers.

Nice looking guitar, very bling and yet understated at the same time.

Congrats buddy that looks awesome. Money spinner or not if you can afford it and it makes you happy then that’s all that matters. So pleased it got to you safely

I’d snap up some original Vai, Slash or Perry gear like a shot if I was in the same position

I love this! Tremonti is hands down my favourite hard rock guitar player. I have a (now heavily upgraded) black Tremonti SE from the first release 15 years ago (when they only came in black or Silver, no Trem, no birds, thinner body etc) and it’s a GREAT guitar so can only imagine how good this one is!

  • Very nice! Loving that finish - so different for the PRS ‘usual’. Enjoy!

Ah I remember seeing that one when he sold off all the guitars from that album, that was the one I would have chosen.

    Great score!

  • Ahhh, can see why you wanted to go collect this one! Really, really pleased it worked out for you, mate!

Always wanted a stop tail Tremonti, that makes me very jealous!

You should have asked him to bring the guitar with his entourage and saved the import duty ;)
