Statically charged finish?

I've a 2012(ish) Les Paul Special in cherry satin finish that's a total dust magnet. From new, it also crackled like crazy when the pickguard was touched so I added copper foil underneath it connected to ground which sorted that. I had to add a strip of said copper foil to the underside of the bridge pickup cover as just rubbing my palm across it when playing caused crackles as well.
I was giving it a bit of a clean yesterday and I'll swear it was attracting more dust than I was managing to clean off.

Is it possible that the finish is statically charged somehow? Any thoughts on cures? I tried anti-static wipes when I first got it and they made f*ck all difference.

If you get a party balloon - does it stick to the guitar without first being rubbed up and down on your jumper?

Give it a rub down with a tumble dryer sheet and keep one in the case

I've noticed something similar with one of my guitars, but I was trying to figure it out a bit more before asking on here!

It's a Classic 60s Lacquer Strat, and it seems to pick up lines of fine dust along the rear bottom edge - I'm guessing this is from my clothing as I rest it against my body. My Lacquer Jag doesn't do it (or maybe it just shows up better on black than red?), neither do any of my poly-finished guitars. No static/crackly noises either.

My Pelham blue Gibson was terrible with static and dust - was told it was normal for that finish. I now use this cleaner on all my guitars and it has fixed the problem
