My Simon & Patrick Woodland Pro Folk Mahogany has the best neck I've played, seems really easy even compared to my Electromatic G5420T with 11s.

I tried one of the £500 Music Man guitars locally, and the necks were very nice indeed. The rest of the guitar wasn't bad either!

The guitar I regret selling is my Ibanez JS1000. The neck and set up was perfect. It is the basis of all my comparisons... and the guitar which is closest? Yamaha Pacfica 311H. Man, for a £290 guitar that thing is excellent.

I've owned so many guitars over the years... but now, I wouldn't part with my Pacifica 311H. Even my Ibanez RG6PCMLTD isn't played as much (although I love it).

Currently, the biggest disappointment... Line 6 Variax Standard. Had 2 of them. Fretboard, neck and general feel... felt terrible. Never got on with them... so sold them both.

Always fancied a 311H or a 611H. Before I bought my last guitar I almost bought a 611H off Ebay but decided against it. Then some bugger on here was selling the exact one i wanted for what I spent on my old guitar  :#

The Yamaha necks can be divisive- I had a 510v for a while. It was a beautifully finished instrument & the neck was almost a joy...
Except it was SLIGHTLY too narrow for me. The depth was perfect, it's the width of the nut.

Yeah, my old Pacifica 112 was a bit of a bugger for playing chords near the nut. Especially with my stubby chubbo fingers.

Funny enough mine became a Les Paul studio with 60s neck, now I have a sg special, midtown and flying v all with 60s necks. Granted all feel slightly different with the midtown being the best but that neck in my opinion was the one Gibson got right as I hate massive chunky necks

Everybody owns a guitar with the best neck, best pickups, all round greatest guitar in the world, etc.. There were a lot of these best guitars made. I should know, as I've got one too. It's a Les Paul from the late 80's. Plays like butter it does, and God made my hands a perfect size to caress this beauty.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

For me it's usually been my 1990 Gordon Smith Gypsy. I think it's just as much to do with the heel as the fingerboard width

  • Ive had my e series 62 ri strat for almost 28 years now and after several refrets, its neck now resides on a heavy reluc, fiesta red strat.  Gary moore eat yer heart out... Unbelievable neck. Lately have been thinking of pi king up a 2nd one. Thats my desert island neck!

    Tom Anderson necks are wonderful.
Also PRS necks that aren't painted. I had an NF3 once with a glorious neck.
I had a white translucent NF3 with a satin neck.

    Glorious thing.

I didn't and still don't own one but once I'd played a Feline neck, everything else pales in comparison.
I played a 25th Anniversary Lion, that green flying V that is un-fucking-put-downable and the Pewter RG he built.

    Just. Stunning.

The Pewter RG looks fantastic. I remember when he was selling it and a couple.of other super strats. Amazing looking things and with the Feline name to back it up . . . Fantastic.

Only on I tried was on the SG's. Beautifully finished and amazing fretwork. I'd love one of Jon's guitars with a satin neck.

And bizarrely still sat here while they should be happily owned and being played to death.

It was otherwise an indifferent guitar but a friend had an Ovation custom acoustic with a V profile neck. It’s the most comfortable thing I’ve ever played. Of my own guitars the SG has the best feeling neck.. chunky 50s profile, refinished in a satin stain.

  • The neck on my 2002 LP Standard is gorgeous, it's so thin and fits my hand perfectly, I've never played an LP with a neck anything like it, even other 60's style necks and many people who have played it have said it's the best they have ever tried!

I learnt to play on a 70s Epiphone Casino / Riviera thing. Has a skinny neck which just feels like home when I go back to it. It probably made me shape my hand in such a way that fat neck Telecasters are too much too handle now!
