Hi Guys

Here is a very nice Fender Jaguar from 1962 with a body only refinish. All
other parts are original and this is a top quality pre-cbs instrument. I’m not sure when the refin was done but it has aged nicely as you will see from the pics. Usual wear as you would expect from a vintage guitar but no issues whatsoever.

I took this on in a trade for a vintage acoustic and need to move it on to
replace that acoustic as I now have 3 electric guitars but no acoustic.
Seems silly I know but I am trying to trim my collection to one electric
and one acoustic so a bit of reshuffling to be done.

Will consider part trades if they equate to my asking price and if the
guitar is a USA Fender or Gibson for electric or Gibson/Martin acoustic.

The case I believed to be original but am not so sure now as I have noticed
other early sixties cases look similar but have compartments. It definitely
seems as old as the guitar, maybe someone can shed some light?

£3500

It is an original 62 Fender case - but the compartment / neck rest has been removed and the lining has been replaced with that current red material

Oof, beautiful. Oly white/tort is by far my favourite colour on a Jag

The dots look normal up to the 12th fret, then small, pearl and strangely positioned ones from 15 - 21. Could be a 'repair'?

Strange it happened there, rather than up the cowboy end. Maybe done when refretted? Is it slab or round lam? Can’t quite tell from pics?

I will take the neck off and have a look tonight. Only got this over the weekend from a local guy I trust so if it turns out to be anything other than replaced inlays/refret etc I am confident he will put things right. Will update this thread with info when I have it. Apologies guys

I don't think that's correct... if it is its not a Jaguar case. The sides of the guitar are too close to what would normally be the *inner* part of the case that would not normally be seen. At a guess, its a Mustang case.

I'm also looking at the body - there appears to be a split in it beneath the trem. What is that?

It’s not a split in the body, that I can say for certain it’s just the paintwork.

@impmann Mustang cases were not brown tolex…….., brown tolex was used in late 59 to late 62 …..and a Jaguar wouldn't fit in a Mustang case.

I'd say its a Jag/Jazzmaster case,......they both had the same cases, the Jag ones had a spacer up at the headstock end.

All the pics look OK......they have made little channels between the cavities so the entire wire harness could be lifted out without desoldering anything....that happened quite a lot when old Jags got refin'd…...a very minor point is that earthing lug usually earths to the switch - not the pickguard shielding, but it will do the same job.
