Mini humbucker pickup rings

I have a partscaster tele deluxe.  I fancy putting some mini-humbuckers in (probably from the Creamery).

Do I need pick up rings or can I just fit them on the scratchplate?

Any pros or cons with either of these arrangements?

Cheers,

Ddig

No reason you can't mount them on a scratchplate - except that I doubt you can find a stock scratchplate with the correct size cutouts. I had to make one myself for my partscaster Strat.

You could try mounting them in a standard humbucker cutout with a gap round the edge - it would look ugly but might work, though the screw spacing is not identical it may be close enough

Or if you're looking for Firebird style pickups, (as opposed to mini humbuckers with adjustable screw poles) you could try Winterizer IIs from Oil City - they are essentially a Firebird pickup under a standard sized humbucker cover.

You can get normal tele plates routed for mini-hums.  Not sure about tele deluxe ones.
