    And hence the healthy second hand market where someone has tried but not liked

    If you think electric bass strings are expensive, check out the prices of classical instrument strings, especially double bass... you can easily find a *single* double bass string that costs more than a 5-string set.

    With flats, I reckon it’s looking like 1-2 years per set.

    Never, or only unless I want to try a different type of string/set, which is rare.
