P/J pickup options

I just chanced upon a bass pickup comparison review. The EMG-GZR P was amongst those tested. One of the negative comments about it concerned a lack of treble detail compared to the other pickups on test. I am inclined to agree with this.

On the EMG-GZR PJ pair, the J pickup contributes that missing high frequency element. I can imagine that the OCP Rickalike pickup could also contribute the high frequency detail. I am not convinced that simple mid/both/bridge pickup switching is the best way to control those two pickups.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Decades of (ab)using the Fender Jazz Bass dual volume pot arrangement would make that my preferred solution.

Master Volume + Balance pot is an equally valid option, electronically speaking. The downside is that EMG's own solderless ABC Balance control is expensive. A conventional stacked pots Balance control will require interconnect cable modifications.

For what it is worth, Geezer Butler uses nickel wrapped round wound strings. The high treble response of the pickup has been tailored to suit the requirements of the artiste. If he makes use of amplifier saturation overdrive tones, that is where much of the high frequencies will be generated.

A small corned beef colour one would be best for camouflage - can you help with that?
