Which of these aged strat colours?

What's Hot

I'm thinking ahead to my next guitar build, which is going to be an aged strat. I've been thinking about it for quite a while but I can't seem to settle on the colour, so I thought I'd throw it out to see what others think.

For many years I've hankered after a light blue strat, but then my head was turned by the aged white look, like Thomas Blug's strat. I was sure I'd go for one of those two, but looking around recently I found that I was drawn quite a bit to black strats. To further complicate things - I have NEVER been a fan of red strats, but I found this one strangely compelling, and now I am seriously considering it as a possibility.

Irrespective of colour, it will DEFINITELY have a rosewood fretboard.

Opinions?

If it’s rosewood, not fiesta red... Olympic white for me personally but the other two colours work fine too.

Fiesta red is awesome and seemingly not that common these days. That'd be my pick

Olympic white or sonic blue - both are cool with relic finish.       Have you though about doing a black or sunburst finish and then over spraying the pale colour and relicing - looks very cool imo.

Everything about that blue guitar is gorgeous. By far my favourite out of the four colours/guitars.

Fiesta red has grown on me over the years.  I also like the contrast of a white Strat with nice dark rw board.

Not on your short list but Lake Placid Blue and Candy Apple Red look classy on 60s Strats.

Black with rosewood just looks a little bit meh to me, looks far better with a maple neck a la blackie imho

Aged fiesta red is a lovely finish as is sonic blue.

Oly white is also a favourite but a lot more common.

I’m not a fan of darker finishes on Strats.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Black Strats should always have maple boards, unless you have a tortoise scratchplate.

I don't normally like fiesta red but it looks good over sunburst and with the rosewood board.  That's what I'd choose from your original four.

  • Sea foam green!

But failing that I do like the fiesta red over sunburst finish - Am i right in thinking Fender did this with lots of Strats coming over to the UK due to the popularity of Hank Marvin and his strat back in the day?

Faded sonic blue with aged pickguard etc looks cool. Really like the look of the Classic Player 60s in that finish.

With a rosewood board, probably Sonic Blue, although there are several other iconic shades as well like Lake Placid Blue, Burgundy Mist, Ocean Turquoise and Olympic White.

Candy Apple Red is great as well, but looks better with a maple board.

Don’t get black or red. Why? Because I don’t like them on a Strat with a rosewood board!

Sonic blue, oly white and vintage white look great on a rosewood board Strat imho.

Edit: or daphne blue or faded lpb!

Black strats are almost literally the guitaring definition of "meh". So dull.

Out of the choices you've picked the blue wins by a mile.
