I've recently bought a used MIM Strat & it has a white push button  switch just below the selector switch, any ideas what it's supposed to do?,i can't hear it doing much(but I am old & deaf =) ).
The guitar has gold plated hardware & is stamped year 2000,under the scratch plate, don't know if this helps .
Thanks for any help.

‘passing lane’ switch instantly routes your signal from any pickup position to the bridge position with the tone circuit bypassed....just gives you a bit more Oooooooomph
Same principle as the Suhr 'blower' switch, essentially it
gives you a direct full volume bridge pickup tone without all the other wiring cluttering up the signal.
Bypasses the volume control too if i remember correctly

Thanks for the replies, the Video shows the switch dem'd on a 2016 strat,so has this switch/circuit been around a lot longer than this,or maybe the Guitar I bought has been modded?.

  • The bridge adder circuit described in @SIME1963 post was on the deluxe Mex Strat's from around '97 to about 2008 or maybe later, and may have been on other models too, so it's been around for a while on Mex instruments.

Yeah, Deluxe Player’s Stratocaster was the model, I believe.
