Why not just spray your favourite colour directly over the sunburst!?!? Fender used to do it back in the old days when they needed to refin a badly sprayed body in another colour. I think it would look cool plus less work involved too!! Some light sanding for the paint to have a template & then off you go.....

Great minds.... I’ve already discussed that possibility with Rich. He needs to see it first before deciding which way to go

You’d also have the option of anodized gold guard if you fancied a change, both great looks IMO.

Yes you’re absolutely right.... I’ve completely changed my mind again (Sorry Rich) Olympic White relic with Tortoiseshell is my Favourite Strat combination.... so why not go for that if I’m having it done anyway? 
Bit like this... minus the bare patch... I want to avoid repeating the Belt Sander look again

Hi all
Right, I’m finally getting my Tortoiseshell Pickguard together... I’ve wired it up with a Callaham blender pot in the traditional 2nd tone pot position, with master tone in the 1st tone position.. The pickups are the wonderful Masterwound Blues from Ash @TheGuitarWeasel ;;
The body is being refinished in Olympic white and then given the relic look.....

It’s coming home, it’s coming home, Belt Sander Special’s coming home...... in a different colour... Consider me excited.......I haven’t been this excited since our last power cut...

Count me in as excited to see this. Have always enjoyed your posts about the belt sander special, and you always accepting the mickey taking in good spirits. Also quite clear that you thought it to be a really top quality guitar, so glad it is getting a finish that befits that quality!

Thanks @CloudNine I think it’s true to say I wouldn’t know a good guitar if my life depended on it.... but I just love this thing. It was a massive decision for me to have it refinished....Even I realised it was bloody awful...Rich @lamf68 has been fantastic all the way.... I’ll post some pics during the rebuilding process....

Evening all
Well it’s here and re assembled! I’m almost lost for words... It’s incredible, I’m so happy...I’m not sure if I’m happy because it all worked after my blender pot wiring work or the magnificent work from Rich aka @lamf68 Thank you Rich you’re a Wizard!!
I’ll post some more shots tonight but I’m busy playing the beast... It sounds wonderful too. I didn’t play it through my new Cornell Romany before I sent it off for the refinish...anyway nuff chat.....Behold the Belt San....No just Behold my Strat..

That said, I'm pleased you kept the Angry Angus, as although it's previous finish was legendary, the timbers always looked to be of fantastic quality.

@Schnozz I’m really sorry.... I struggled with my decision for ages.... I loved and hated the finish in the same measure. I’m a bit of a sucker for a  Sunburst finish but every time I saw a Custom Shop Strat (usually at Peach) in Olympic White with Tortoiseshell guard I was immediately taken...Its such a personalised guitar for me now... I’ve completely stripped and rebuilt it. Even the pickups I won here in a raffle have my name engraved on them....My crappy photos don’t really do it justice but the ageing is fantastic... and for the record it was an absolute bargain for what Rich wanted for doing it...(I can’t really call it charging me)....I’ve given away a couple of pedals on here and donated to some JustGiving good causes but I can honestly say I’ve probably broken even with the kind gestures I’ve received on theFretboard...
