Just pulled the trigger on this beauty It's arguably the nicest one I've seen of this quite rare model with a simply stunning quilted maple cap over solid mahogany. Ebony fingerboard, locking Sperzel machine heads, Wilkinson trem ( which locks when the arm drops ). Amazing pups ( powerful but has that quack too ) and plays beautifully. The man himself has signed the back of the headstock which is a nice touch.

Whats everyones thoughts on the Godin brand ?

I have a couple of Godin guitars - very well made guitars. The brand is on the up as production rises and more artists play their guitars. They also have some good guitars at player friendly price points.

    My LGXT ..

Only ever played their bottom end S type (Session?). Very well put together and had a superb neck. Sadly, I didn't think the pickups had much character but then this was at the cheaper end of the range and the fact that it was played through a cheap amp probably didn't help. I'd still be tempted though.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Good guitars if a little bland. Brilliant Roland GR integration.
Almost impossible to shift used and value plummets probably worse than any other guitar brand I can think of. (A very few select models in the Godin range do hold their value).

I had a LGX-SA and I used it solidly as a gigging guitar. I loved it at first but soon became quite bored of it.
Still it did me well for a years worth of gigs. Really struggled to move it on when its time came.

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I had an LG P90 which I regret selling as the Seymour Duncans were rather lovely if a bit 'vintage' for me, and an Artisan TC (the tele version, but the bog standard one) which was stunning in terms of looks and build quality, but the pickups were a bit bland. In hindsight, I should have just upgraded them rather than sell the guitar.

Both guitars had lovely non-glossy necks, great neck profiles and body shapes. Really underrated brand, this.

I’ve owned a bunch of Godin models on and off over the past decade or so. They have all been very well-made and sounded good. Generally have just moved them on because GAS.

Currently still have a 5th Avenue TV Jones Ltd... picked up recently from Peach in their sale. Really liking it so far.

Used to have a Solidac, a 5th Avenue Kingpin II, a Montreal and a 5th Avenue Jazz. All gone now. The Montreal was super interesting and the Jazz was just not a guitar I could personally get the best out of (read: bad jazz skills) - even though it was arguably the looker of the bunch. The Solidac needed the most maintenance/work - had multiple wiring issues and faulty pots over the course of its life and I sunk a few hundred quid into repairs - the piezo complicates things too, but when it was working it was a cool idea at the time. Got bored of the maintenance so shifted it on.

Currently have minor GAS for a Summit SG... something about the simplicity of it is rather appealing and it’s cheap as chips.
