Final festival of the season today and because the weather was crap and the punters would most likely stay home I decided to take a huge risk and try a completely different (untested) rig to normal. Yes I know, very unprofessional, tut tut.

I’ve spent the summer thoroughly enjoying a non-reverse firebird into my 18 watt tmb. It’s been awesome, the warmth and grunt when needed of a hot Lester and the clarity of a tele. However, today I took the recently traded Princeton Reverb and AVRI Jaguar out...oh my! That combination just works so well. Amazing clarity, still warm; absolute perfection.

What combinations have you found that were just bang on the money from the word go?

    The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Dual rectifier if I have to choose between the two (though was never that blown away by them, too many knobs) and if not then a katana is fine as the 50watter is still my headphone practice amp of choice. Preferably something all valve and single channel for my tastes.

    A Tom Mates Tele (swamp ash, bird's-eye maple, S/D Ant's) into a '68 Ampeg Jet 12 not dissimilar to the one @Gabriel has advertised. It sounded sublime and was also the best spring reverb I've heard.

    I'm just going to leave this here:

    Anything with an EMG81 into an Orange Dark Terror... best gigging and recording sound I ever had, after a lot of searching. The guys on the Orange forum were extremely dismayed when I sold my Rockerverb 50 and replaced it with a Dark Terror :D
    Too much gain... is just about enough \m/
