Would that be the Chinese Squier reissue of the 1963 Stratocaster?

Apparently "was a project to rebuild", but "no time" because bolting a neck on can take months...

I asked the seller if he knew it was a Squier, and he said

You do realise that it would clearly note SQUIER BY FENDER kid.

Strange how it’s a pre cbs serial number on it .

Should go and have a snickers kid ... your not you when your hungry

    Kid?

    It needs restringing too.

Presumably it had strings on when it was a “daily user” but they fell off after years and years in tbe closet in a modern case.

I asked him about the tuners and if anything is written on the neck heel, he said the tuners are reinforced and the neck is a replacement, but that's where the pre cbs serial number is, isn't it? He obviously knows nothing about guitars and is just trying it on.

Ha, he's now updated the ad to read

"I am definetly aware that it’s had a replacement neck and the body has been refurbed. It could’ve been a potential replica of the guitars original heritage. I am happy to go with a modern replica or remake of the instrument .Single coils from hell. And a fat chunky boat neck"

"A potential replica" lol . As for 'single coils from hell', that immediately brings to mind cheap, microphonic, shitty sounding ceramic single coils. It's now bid at £132, so around 4 x it's real value, what a joker!

A replacement neck with a pre CBS serial number? Where do you get them from?

  • Nothing seems to be quite right about that guitar, it’s the sort of thing l might give someone £10 for at a car boot sale and use for spares.
