Dead/buzz d string: solved but not by me!

What's Hot

I have completed my kit tele (congrats to me) problem is the D sting buzz from 7th fret up and after the 12th fret it's really bad.
No other string is like that and. Because of the bridge type I can't adjust the height
I've added pictures below to may be help with analysis. Thanks

Is the middle saddle in upside down? It looks like it in the photo. Get that flipped and you'll be able to control the action on the middle two strings.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.

The grub screws would indicate that. That will also be why you cannot adjust the height!

I had it in upside down  I'm just going to hide in a corner somewhere until I stop being an idiot. This could take a while!

    Glad you sorted it.
Now, in the bridge image I can see a bit of the body. What's the finish? From what I can see it looks pretty cool.

  • All crimson stain. Il post full pictures soon of the complete project.
But I diluted some black as a base then royal blue. Afterwards was tung oil followed by wax.
The neck had diluted Amber then tung oil and wax. It's smooth as anything.
Wish I used some grain filler on body as its ash and very porous

I used a dark grain filler on my Swamp Ash Tele that I built, and it made a lovely job. Perhaps it is not too late to do yours.

  • Very nice. My next project will have grain filler. Where did you get the body? And what pick ups at they?

I believe I bought that body from Stew Mac (it was my first build). Since then I have bought bodies from Guitarbuild.co.uk and have had brilliant service.
I am sure I bought the pickups from Axetec, so that would make them Irongear, but what model I am not sure. As my data plate shows, it was built a few years back.

It is my favourite guitar, from its gearless tuners to the Tru-oiled body.

  • Here's a picture in the light, I'm going to put a whole other post showing the work. It's my first and still some work to do, like getting new nut and tuners, etc.
How are the iron gear pups any better than Wilkinson?
