Gibson Les Paul Special Alternative

At some point down the line I'd like to get a solid body dual P90 guitar, that does what a Les Paul Special does (light, nimble, no frills) but not a Gibson. Purely for the sake of a different feel to a Gibson, but with the same amount of lovely bite, clarity and punch.

So what is ether out there to consider?

My first thought was that you need a P90 equipped SG- they meet all your criteria, but if you're adamant about no Gibson's... 
Maybe a Framus? Id love to try the reliced single pickup one, but they do dual pickups too.

Some of the Gordon Smith models ( I think they are all  available to order with P90s instead of humbuckers).

There are  Telecaster shaped guitars easily within your budget with P90s  - the Fender Modern Player Thinline and the G and L Tribute ASAT Junior ii.

^ That is the old USA Hamer Special, not the import line.

Worth looking at a Gordon Smith GS2 with P90s. If you're not in a rush to get it, you could get a made-to-order with your favourite choices of material, neck profile, colour, etc, for about £850 - £950.

I’d keep things simple and grab a PRS SE Soapbar. I’ve had a few now and they’re bloody great things, easily worth the money.

PRS have done some great looking guitars, but as shallow and superficial as it is I just can’t get on with that headstock shape

Cort Sunset Junior lot of bang for yah buck for under 300 quid, I played a friends recently, yes bolt on maple neck but don’t worry about that useful little guitar for little money.

+1 for the Cort Sunset Junior if you're looking for a quality cheapy and LAG RR1500 or RR2000 if you have a bit more and you've also got the option to go back to humbuckers...
