eBay Content: A new angle...

Worth a shot - "This guitar is being sold as a part of our British rock and roll heritage and should be seen as such.. NOT a pristine example of XXX"

You could pass off a whole lot of crap with that line... ;)

  • And let’s face it...JDC isn’t exactly a household name, is he?

    *shudders, remembering the embarrassment that was “Don’t be a Dummy”*

    Blimey, that digs up a few memories. It was Gary Numan before he became famous, wasn't it?

    The original ad was this:

    and then the single came out, which they tried to persuade us was just a longer version:

    Yeah...the song in the ad was by Gary Numan, but (allegedly) when asked to release it as a 7", he wasn't keen, so JDC did it instead. Dire.

    The original ad was great though! :)

    Ho-hum. Transparent red finish over ash body. Original to 1961-63? Unlikely.

    The claimed neck stamp date, golden CBS-era Fender logo, F logo machineheads and "round lam" fingerboard check out.

    "... NOT a pristine example of a 1966 Fender Telecaster ..."

    ... and, yet, still priced as if it were.*

    * Which it patently isn't.
    You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
