Looking for an OD pedal that is quiet at a medium gain setting

Way Huge Green Rhino appeals as it seems to have tweakable EQ controls and easy to set, but read that it can be noisy. Maybe that's just at extreme settings. After a low/medium gain pedal that can be smooth and fatten a strat or tele. Definitely don't want a pedal that introduces hiss when in the chain but not on.

Thoughts and recommendations welcome and appreciated.

  • I found the Mad Professor Royal Blue had a really nice range of gain, good EQ, and was quiet. Also, very touch sensitive. I regret selling mine.

  • Try the Lunastone True Overdrive 2. That has a wide range of gain available, not high gain though and is voiced to be 'fatter', great with single coils and humbuckers.

Cheers for the offer, I'm in Grassendale near Liverpool Cricket Club. How do you find the Green Rhino for what I'm describing? Is it a quiet pedal?

Take a look at the Amptweaker Tight Drive Pro. For me it was the end of searching for overdrive pedals because it is so versatile it covers a lot of ground. It is quiet anyway but it also has a switchable noise gate built in.

sorry for not getting back earlier - family bereavement ,,,

I'll try it later this morning - what rig are you running ?

what have you used previously as your comment re noise in the chain when not on indicates to me that you may have used a non true bypass pedal ?

Further to above - my Green Rhino mk11 no noise in bypass - beefs up low end, dial in to taste - upper mid range sweep works well .. tried with fat 50's and american std strat pu's .. neck n middle only as both guitars have humbucker treble pu's ..

Their demos may give you more insight
